Corduroy
Rib Corduroy is a woven 100% cotton fabric characterized by its distinctive vertical ridges, or cords. These cords are classified by their wale count, which measures the number of ridges per inch. A lower wale count produces wider, thicker cords, while a higher wale count results in finer, narrower ribs. Known for its soft hand, durability, and textured appearance, Rib Corduroy is widely used in apparel, including pants, jackets, shirts, skirts, and other garments, where both comfort and longevity are desired.
I would also recommend correcting one technical point from the original. Wale count is not the thickness of the ridges—it is the number of wales (cords) per inch. This means:
- Low wale count (e.g., 6–8 wale) = fewer, wider cords.
- High wale count (e.g., 14–21 wale) = more, finer cords.
